Bo Knows Forklifts in New ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

Bo Jackson, one of the most famous U.S. athletes during the glory years of American sports during the late 1980s and early 1990s, recently got involved in the ALS ice bucket challenge.

And just like he did on the football field and baseball diamond, Bo outperformed everybody else. Some things never change.

For those of you too young to remember Jackson, check out his famous Outfield Wall Walk. He was also part of Nike’s famous “Bo Knows” marketing campaign. Of course, video game players of a certain generation remember Jackson as the Guy Who Couldn’t Be Caught (let alone tackled) on the classic Nintendo football game, Tecmo Bowl.

But even Bo Jackson can’t get hundreds of gallons of cold water above his head alone. Jackson used a forklift with a bucket to dump the water. The video has gained positive feedback, especially from Jackson’s plea for others around the country to get involved with funding ALS research.

ALS itself also has a famous athlete tie-in. The disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, struck New York Yankees legend Lou Gehrig during the Hall of Fame first baseman’s prime. Gehrig died in 1941, and ALS is now known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.
